CSRS to Support Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge with Pink Out Day Event

Updated: Oct 14, 2021

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease, and the "pink ribbon" has become an international symbol of Breast Cancer Awareness. To promote this year's campaign and show our support for all who have fought and still fighting breast cancer, our staff will participate in a company-wide Pink Out Day on October 22, 2021. We will also direct donations to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.

Cancer Services helps adults, children, and families through the emotional, financial, and physical burdens of cancer - always free of charge, thanks to donor generosity. Specifically, donations assist with the center's wig boutique (for women that have lost hair due to cancer treatments), prosthetics, nutritional support, counseling, and navigation. In summation, their efforts exceed what most insurance provides to patients.

CSRS Chief Operating Officer Elif Acar Chiasson, PE, shared her thoughts on the importance of Pink Out Day. "For many, regardless of the outcome, the journey through cancer is the ultimate test of resilience; both physically and mentally," Elif explains. "It takes much more than a village to provide life-changing care and support for the fighters and survivors of the disease. We, the CSRS family, are humbled and honored to do our part in supporting our community."

On October 22, we encourage you to wear pink to honor someone you may know and show solidarity for Breast Cancer Awareness. Donations can be made to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge here.
